Genre Terms for Literature in LCGFT

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Short stories, graphic novels, romance fiction - genre terms for literature are making the leap from LCSH to LCGFT (Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials). This program will explore the new genre terms for literary works, how they are applied, and how this development could affect searching in library catalogs. We will also discuss new MARC fields that accommodate aspects of existing LCSH headings that are not genre (or, what happens to "Children" when "Children's poetry" becomes simply "Poetry"?) and the new LC vocabulary for demographic terms.
