During this presentation, participants will learn how to: identify and reach out to communities in need; prioritize outreach services; and to develop an outreach action plan including program goals and outcomes. Presenters will share examples of successful outreach programs and specific information about how to make the library a welcoming space for groups such as immigrants, individuals with limited English language proficiency or literacy skills and persons with disabilities. At the end of the session, participants will have concrete tools for starting or improving an outreach program to meet the needs of underserved groups in their communities.
In order to aid in the discussion and to get the most out of this session, it is highly recommended that attendees bring (or have access to) your library's mission and vision statement, and the strategic plans or goals. If these are not readily available, samples will be made available during the session.
Why do some people end up with amazing photos while yours are lackluster and out of focus? Jump-start your camera skills with this photo bootcamp for the "photographically challenged".
Having spent decades as an award-winning professional photographer and photojournalist before becoming a librarian, Bill Landau will show you how to get the most out of your camera or phone.
After attending this program, you will no longer just take "snapshots". The emphasis will be on inspiring attendees to creatively tell a story with photography while producing images of beauty. We will cover basic composition and creative photography techniques and show you how to optimize your device to get maximum results. There will be demonstrations of the most popular and useful photography apps for phones and tablets.
