Thursday Dinners
Thursday's Dinner can be anything you want it to be. Look for the message board near the Registration Desk and propose or sign up for a dinner at one of Bend's many fun and delicious hotspots. For ideas, see the Where to Eat Guide and try one of their helpful categories.

Then head back to the Riverhouse at 8:00 pm for the live music and door prizes of the President's Party!

OLA President's Party - Live Music & Door Prizes ($25)
Relax after a long day of conferencing by chatting with colleagues from across the state (extroverts) or grooving to a live local band (introverts) or doing a bit of both!

We'll be giving away door prizes and enjoying the tunes of Bend 'N Strings. Refreshments and no-host bar will be on hand. A great time for networking with new people and catching up with old friends.

From OLA President Jane Corry:
"Come to the President's Party! As a person who always skipped the president's banquet because I really couldn't handle another speech, and a person who always missed the President's party because I couldn't really believe I was invited into the president's hotel room, I really wanted to do something different. We hired a great band, have snacks and a no-host bar. Also we are raising money for 4 great causes: OASL in memory of Debbie AlvarezOLA leadership scholarships and two Library PACS Every Library and People for Oregon Libraries. There will also be door prizes: baskets of treats from Bend and Portland. Join the fun, I need you to make this party a success."

Add the President's Party when you register for the OLA conference or if you've already registered, add the Party via the Meals Only form.

More details about the fundraising recipients:

OLA Leadership Committee/Leadership Development Scholarship Program
The Leadership Committee was formed in 2015 and oversees leadership development
opportunities for the OLA membership.  Its purpose is to provide opportunities for the
development of leadership abilities of all OLA members, including programming at OLA
conferences.  The committee is currently working on an initiative to provide scholarships for
leadership workshops and trainings through an application process.  Funds raised will be added to an existing scholarship fund with the goal of beginning the Leadership Development Scholarship Program in Fall 2016.

Debbie Alvarez Grant
Debbie Alvarez was a passionate believer in libraries as the heart of the community.  Her
accomplishments are many - she is the creator and visionary for the Oregon Battle of the Books, author of the Stylin’ Librarian blog, tweeter, school library advocate, and writer.  She served on the board of OASL, and was the 2005 Elementary Library Media Teacher of the year.  At Debbie's passing, writer ranging from Lenore Look to Rosemary Parry spoke of the impact she had.  OASL seeks funds to further her love of authors by sponsoring author events in her name.

EveryLibrary
To run a successful library ballot measure, two key groups of stakeholders need to activated:  the library Information Only team and the local Vote YES committee. EveryLibrary works with both groups in important but different ways. The local Vote YES committee is able to conduct the a full range of Get Out the Vote activities, and EveryLibrary provides consulting and capacity-building to help them succeed. But because library Information Only teams are limited in what they can and cannot say on public time, they need specific, experienced guidance for their outreach efforts. EveryLibrary provides specialized Information Only training and coaching to staff, trustees, and volunteers that helps them be effective communicators.  We provide these services to libraries and Vote YES committees on a pro-bono basis.  All of our work – and the direct donations we make to committees – is supported by our donors. For every $1 donated to EveryLibrary we have helped secure $1,600 in stable funding for libraries across the United States.

People for Oregon Libraries
The People for Oregon Libraries Political Action Committee is a group of library supporters who work to support library issues and library legislation in Oregon.  We also work to support the Oregon Library Association. Oregon needs elected officials who understand the unique role our libraries play in our community. The Oregon Library Association cannot support candidates but the People for Oregon’s Libraries can. This political action committee funds library supportive candidates as well as local library ballot measures.
